About Derrick Prasad
Hello. My name is Derrick Prasad, and I live in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
I'm a quiet person who enjoys routine days. There's comfort in repetition—the same morning tea (though I prefer it iced, even in winter), the same paths through the neighborhood, the same small rituals that give shape to the hours.
I've lived in Vancouver for most of my life. The rain doesn't bother me anymore. In fact, I've come to appreciate how it makes staying indoors feel purposeful. A good day for sorting coins. A good day for winding thread.
My interests are simple. I collect things—stamps (digital scans, mostly, which I print out), buttons, postcards from places I've decided I'll never visit. I work on puzzles, though lately I've been drawn to puzzles of blank white images. There's something meditative about assembling nothing.
I garden on Saturdays, though my plants are mostly plastic. I call it eco-friendly simulation. The soil smell I mention in my blog posts is from a candle.
I don't travel much. I don't go out much. I find that the world is large enough within a small radius, if you pay attention to the details. A drawer can contain multitudes.
I started this website in 2011 as a way to document small observations. It's grown slowly, like everything I do. I don't expect many visitors. That's fine. These words are mostly for myself—a way to mark time, to prove that days have passed and I was present for them.
If you'd like to contact me, there's a form on the Contact page. I can't promise a quick reply. Sometimes the days blend together and I forget to check.
Thank you for reading.
